Christmas Traditions | Blogmas 2016 Day 23

We have quite a few Christmas traditions, and although this Christmas is going to be slightly different due to personal circumstances, I thought I would share what we do for Christmas.

Our family Christmas traditions start on Christmas Eve. Ever since I was little, we have left out things for Santa under the tree. Although what we leave varies slightly, it generally involves a cake or mince pie, a glass of drink like milk, and a carrot for Rudolph.

In recent years, Christmas Eve has also included cosying up on the sofa and watching a Christmas movie. And then when my little brother is ready for bed, we hang our stocking on our bedroom doors.

Then on Christmas Day morning, often very early in the morning, my little brother wakes me up and we all go into my mum and dad’s room to open the little gifts in our stockings, before going downstairs to have bacon sandwiches before opening our main presents from “Santa”.

We then head to our church for a short little service, which includes some carols and kids showing off some of their presents. After that comes Christmas dinner with the family and an afternoon of relaxing, eating chocolates, watching the Doctor Who Christmas special and exploring our new presents.

Christmas for us often continues onto Boxing Day, with the day usually spent with some of my grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and cousins, with another roast dinner and more presents often on the agenda. This say often involves some fun little games and activities, although it’s really just time to chill out all together.

What are some of your Christmas traditions?
